Volubilis

A városka nevének jelentése virágok városa. Itt található a világ egyik legnagyobb, látható formában megmaradt római kori városa. 20.000 ember lakta,  minden épület alapja, a helységek beosztása, a falak megmaradtak, ami nem csoda, mert a 17. századig berberek laktak itt. Az 1755-ös Liszaboni földrengés rombolta le és utána senki nem építette újjá. Épségben megmaradt egy oliva olaj készítő üzem,  gazdag házak csatorna és fűtési rendszerrel, a Forum, a Bazilika boltívei, a Capitolium oszlopai, a Győzelem kapuja, a széles főutca, medencék és mozaikkal díszített padlók. Hihetetlen mennyire lehet érezni még mindig az itteni életet, nyüzsgést. 

The name of the town means city of flowers. The town is famous for one of the largest intact Roman ruins. 20.000 people lived here before the 18th century. It was well preserved by the Berbers who lived in town until the beginning  of 1700's. Unfortunately the earthquake in 1755 in Lisbon ruined the whole town and after that, since nobody had lived there anymore, it wasn't rebuilt. 
Among the ruins we found an olive factory, a luxurious house with plumbing and heating system, very well preserved mosaics. Also the Forum, the arches of the Basilica, the columns of the Capitol, the Triumphal Arch and the wide main street. Amazing to be here in 2010 and still feel the life 2000 years ago.
